Just been looking at one of these cars (I'm thinking of giving to the weather) and noticed that the low ratio selector is on the right of the gear selector, near the driver...whereas on the V8 petrol version it's on the left. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Also I've heard mixed reviews of these...is there anything in particular I should look out for (other than a Japanese 4x4 for similar money)?

Thanks for your help.

Google blender door failure. All the grands seem prone to this failure. You need to press the A/C and Recicrulate buttons together, then click the passenger side temp select dial one click clockwise. If it shows any codes like 54 / 56 etc, then the blend doors have failed and that means the heating/cooling system cannot be controlled properly. That's around £1,000 for a proper dealer fix, or £100-200 if you get a DIY kit from Ebay, but that usually means you can't have independent temp control any more.

I have just bought a Cherokee instead of a Grand. 11,000 miles, 06 plate and just £6,500. 3.7 l petrol and sounds great!

Good luck with finding a grand. I gave up. Alot were quite shoddy or had galactic mileages. The pick is either the 4.7 petrol or 2.7 diesel, but since the bad weather, there are not so many nice ones about and prices seemed to have firmed up.
