Buy from the US, it'll probably save you lots. Do you know which carb you want?

Be very careful buying a Holley - there are so many variants - the cheaper options are usually poor quality units and will not have the tunability of the mid range and more expensive ones - spend a bit more and you will get replaceable jets in the secondaries - the cheapo units just have a metering block with drillings and generally have very lean emission related settings. One thing that also seems to be a problem with the cheapo units is the gasket quality - the fuel seems to break-up the gasket and cause blockages - even jamming float needle.

^ They aren't that bad, they've sold millions of decent units. Op just needs to know the right one (cfm etc) for his application and whether to have vac or mechanical secondary's

The model I need is part no. 0-80457S 600cfm electric choke.Real Steel dont stock the electric choke version and have quoted eight weeks delivery, which I could live with, but had hoped to get it quicker.

A lot of people ditch the choke as they can be a bit of a pain and besides you have accelerator pumps to get you going smile

I drove this car for four years whithout a functioning choke, but it was a pain as it is an auto, perfected my left foot braking technique though. Thanks for all the advice guys,I think Ill order it from Real Steel and wait the eight weeks as their price was quite reasonable.

If you know the exact model you want, maybe try from the US (Summit or Jegs are both good)

Re: the electric choke. Many remove it for less hassle and better flow, and my old engine with a 600 Holley had no choke, but I'm pleased I've got one now. The trying to stop it stalling when cold and damp is a pain..

Bare in mind that 'their' 8 weeks could be 12 or 16. They won't order 1 carb just for you but will tag your order onto another order once it's large enough. You would be better off ordering from Summit, imo. Ideally you need to confirm it's on the shelf somewhere before placing the order.

Shipping was 82 dollars, there were no options on the online order form, but still worked out a few pounds cheaper than Real Steels original quote.
