American Hot-Rod on Freeview 38 'QUEST' every night next wk
Discussion
Alway felt that show was too much about arguments between the staff rather than the design and building of great Hot Rods. A shame, as it could have been so much better. Obviously I never knew Boyd (RIP) but the show didn't paint a very nice picture of him.
Now, Overhaulin' and Wrecks to Riches USA are another story. Brilliant, brilliant programs

I had never watched American Hotrod before Quest began showing it a couple of weeks ago (terrestrial only here), and I had exactly the same feeling.Quest has also broadcast A Plane is Born (home-built light aircraft), is currently showing A Chopper is Born (home-built helicopter), and is about to show A Racing Car is Born (Westfield kit car build).

American Hotrod does for Hotrods what American Chopper does for bike building.....LOL
Both centre around the personalities of the business and the cars/ bikes add the necessary bling factor.
IMHO American Chopper has lost its way now both Paul Junior and Mikey have left the shop. Program now centres around watching the sons try and tout for work doing anything from designing BBQ's to air rifles.......
The best American car programs I have found tends to be Rides and if you're into Hotrods, then try and watch Chop, Cut, Rebuild.....
Been watching this on Quest over the last couple of weekends, have to say I found it pretty interesting & entertaining, I know there isn't a great deal (If any) in the way of 'How to' but really enjoyed watching what was going on and seeing the final product.
Have to admit that some of the 'Employees' would drive me insane in real life, but that has only added to the entertainment factor. In the main there appears to be a great team there.
Just found the first series (Not sure if a second one was made) is available on DVD from Duke, or Amazon.
I hadn't realised that Boyd was no longer with us, I am intrigued as to whether the company still exists. Off for a Google.
