VIN help and advice needed !!!!!
Discussion
hi , a friend has bought a mustang and on inspection the vin number does not match the log book .
it seems to be a genuine mistake by the dvla when imported a few years ago.
the vin number is exactly the same other than there are three no 8 in it which have all been printed as no 0 on the log book in the same sequence.
any idea which is the best way to handle this problem ????
thanks

Had the same happen to me a while ago and actually the Navigator I have now has an S instead of a 5 which I have not changed yet. I spoke to the DVLA and they told me to make the correction on the V5 and send it back to them. I included a cover letter describing the issue. You may also want to take a close up pic of the VIN plate on the car and include that. They reserve the right to inspect the vehicle at an approved center to confirm the change but in my case never did. Hope this helps.
