help tuning a LS1 V8
Discussion
Could do with find somewhere local'ish to me that has something like HPTuners, LS1Edit or similar?
I've got a 99 z28 Camaro Ls1. I'd really like to remove the Torque Management setting on the gearbox and delete the rear O2's and maybe a few other things.
I had intended to buy EFI Live or HPTuners, but the are a bit pricey for what I need really.
Thanks.
PS - I'm in Milton Keynes Bucks, but don't mind driving a little way.

You guys want/need efilive
Comp Cams uses it to develop their camshafts.
Dude you can get yourself into v1 of efilive for £340 squid. Probably cost you at least half of that to do a few tweeks.

I did look at EFI Live, but it would appear that HP Tuners have much greater depth on the 6L80e right now.
Hi m8, I've got HP Tuners and am in SE London. Bought it a few months ago, but have done very little with it yet, other than save my stock tune and diagnose that my front O2's needed replacing. Not exactly local to you, but if you did fancy the drive then you're more than welcome to come over and use it. Always wondered about that Torque Management thing...if you delete it and nothing blows up then I might have a go
The best way to think about torque management is the fact that you take your foot of the accelerator when changing gears on a manual clutch, it cuts the torque flow whilst you press the clutch down and then release it.
Imagine keeping your foot planted, dip the clutch and change gear - it will work, but it will burn the clutch a little bit each time.
Torque management is there to protect the clutches inside the autobox. Autoboxes are full of motorcycle style multiplate wet clutches and bands, each gearchange is acheived by applying a band or clutch.
So turning torque management off completely means more stress on the bands and plates, you need a combination of changes; less TM with quicker changes (which reduces the transistion time, which is time spent 'slipping' the clutch between changes). You dont want ultra fast 'crashy' feeling changes either as this is hard on the internals also.

Yeah, even the late model manuals have torque management and abuse management. Mine is all disabled on my LS7. The throttle does my torque management!
Im surprised about the 6l80e stuff elliot. Have you downloaded efilive to take a look at a T43 trans calibration?
Most often its torque management, line pressures and shift times that guys mod. Then you can alter shift points and sensitivity etc.
Anyone with a tuned trans says its like a new car. So if you have driven the auto and think its a bit of a slouch then you will want to look into the tuning.
The nice thing on the earlier LS1 stuff is that the trans and ecu are all in one unit. Not that it really matters. 300bhp, I sent you some info.
