Well after travelling for 3 months in the usa last year, i can't stop thinking about living there but because of uni commitments i can't for a few years. So i thought i could get a bit of the US by buying a car/truck.

What i would like to know is what sort of thing can i get for under £3000? and is it worth importing one myself? where are all the american cars advertised?

Buy yourself a copy of Classic American from any WHSmiths, it has a good classified in the back, also depending on what marque you fancy, ford mustang, chevy camaro etc.. have a look on the usual sites ebay, a-trader etc.. for £3k there's quite a few options open to you, just depends on what you fancy.

cant imagine its worth importing with a £3K budget, the exchange rate isnt brill and it will cost you a third of your budget to get a car over here and on the road if your lucky

You'll be lucky to get an American vehicle that's worth having in that price range - then a lot of insurers won't touch you because of your age. Unfortunately, American cars fall into expensive classics up to about 1974 then lapse into rusty malaise smogged era cars until about 1984 when they started to get reasonably good again but where finding a good one is quite difficult and are now beginning to appreciate again.

You might be better off saving but if you want a pickup, you might find a Dodge Ram for that.

As always there is ebay and of course here.

I'm selling my 1998 Chevy Camaro, it's a 2.8 V6 and is manual. So much nicer than auto! It's been my daily for 2 years and so is a bit rough around the edges and needs an MOT and some TLC.

I'll be putting it up for 1500 ono

Pics and full details if you need them. Car in Kent
