z28 tune up on south coast
Discussion
Anyone know where i can get my v8 1993 camaro tuned on the south coast (portsmouth way) It has comp cams & some other bits to make it run at about 350 bhp but it backfires & misses on occasions. Seems to go well when floored from rest but when you are moving at about 50 or so & floor it, hesitates & pops a bit?
The bloke before changed the optispark(or so he said) so i dont know what else it could be?

Optispark sucks.
Have you ever had it retuned for the cam?
If not you need to. The 93 uses an EPROM. I went with fastchips in the USA for my 93 with a GM Hotcam. They will post you the chip which is an easy fit. But they will need to know diff ratio, cam specs etc. It will make a huge difference.
That being said, the optispark is rubbish and can need replacing quite often. If it drives ok sometimes and not others its more likely opti than tune. The tune wont cause intermittent sparking.

How much is it to replace optispark? It has been done once? how long do they last?
