Plymouth 'Barracuda' vs a 'Cuda' - the difference?
Discussion
I know nothing about yank motors, except I have become smitten with a Barracuda or 'Cuda' that I have seen twice in London. The thing is, I don't know what it is, part from it is Orange, and has '440' on the rear wings in black type, and has some kind of metal grille that looks like a very long set of ratchet teeth (sounds awfule, but looks cool) running along the bottom edge of the car, beneath the doors. There was a badge on it that said 'Yuda' or 'Cuda', but I couldn't get a proper look before it growled off up the road. Does anyone here know about these cars?. Are they a money pit?, or can I run one on reasonable expenses?, I have a number of cars, so it would only be for the occasional run out when the mood arises.
In 1999, I was almost offered this car for £10500, I think it was, although I'm not convinced he would actually have sold it. Sadly the CSA were consuming my wages and it was one of those potential missed opportunities. I still love this car and have no doubt it's now worth at least twice that.

I can't say "Baccaruda"
The Barracuda or 'Cuda is one of the most desirable muscle cars.
Expect to pay top dollar for a good example. The 440ci engine will return single digit fuel figures quite happily.
If you are interested in these cars, I would recommend that you take a trip to Santa Pod over the weekend of the Mopar Nationals later this month.
There you will be able to see them in action on the strip, in the show corral and talk to the owners. You might even find one with a "for sale" in the screen.
Good luck.

Good taste as you've picked probably the most expensive/desirable muscle car out there all things being even.
heres the graphics and sill trims you spotted. 1970 single lamps got '71-74 'twin amongst other changes.
I think the Barracuda became the 'Cuda as performance option on some 1969 models and the tag stuck.

That's it, the red one, but the one I saw was in Orange and looked so right. It has the same 440 insignia and yes, those sill trims just look cool, it has the two single 'extra' spotlamps, and is in fairly reasonable condition. This itch is beginning to become a rash. There is something about its proportions that seem just right for my eyes. Has anyone on here got one?

I used to own that car so listen up! A 'Cuda is essentially the higher performance Barracuda. The Vitamin C "'Cuda" you have spotted started life as a 318 Barracuda, but does actually have a period 440 under the hood. Front discs, electric windows (!), overhead console, rallye dash, slapstick auto - no pas tho' so serious workout when parking. If it sounds good it's because I invested in headers and cherry bomb "silencers". Used to store it in an underground car park and on start up it set off car alarms...awesome. I loved the car (Baz) but usual thing - house move and needed the dollars. I owe everthing I know to the "Standard Catalog of American Cars 1945-1975". Might be hard to track down - I got mine 25 years ago. If you do end up with a Yank you must go and see Andy at AC Automotive in Sheperd Bush - top bloke.
