After five years the Camaro has gone off to its new owner tonight. It has been a fantastic car and I am missing it already. It sounded fantastic as the new owner accelerated up the road.

Hopefully he will enjoy it as much as I have. I know it sounds stupid but I actually feel a bit sad that it has gone. Much as I love my cars, I always hate parting with them.

I can understand you being upset,

I am always the same when I sell a car.

I get over it pretty quickly though,I expect you will too.

How long did it take you to sell? ISTR recall some time - I thought it looked a good buy, although I guess some wouldn't like the colour.
Glad I'm not looking to shift mine at the moment

Yeh, it's easy to get attached to some cars, especially if it's one you always wanted but now need to sell for one reason or another.

I sold my 72 Camaro SS350 in late 2007 that I restored and owned for 5 years. I got it on the front cover of the Motorvatinusa club mag, in which I wrote a short article on my Camaro's I had owned. So it was sad seeing it go, it's now supposedly in Finland somewhere frown

Ages, I had pretty much made a decision to hang on to it when the buyer came along. It was a lot of car for the money. I personally loved the colour, but its all down to personal choice I guess.

It was my first American car, I will certainly have another some day...

i remember seeing your car a few times and chatted to you about it. It was a really well looked after and sorted car, I'd have had it if I didn't have mine already..

what's next though ?

Stu - did you get my email a couple of weeks ago?

Things have moved on with the Dorset charity meets - can you check them out, see which dates you can make and post it up on the thread? I'll then update the car list.

Thanks.

First Corvette I had was sold after 3 years thanks to the CSA and it was like having my stomach pulled out as she drove away. The '98 Z28 was also a gut-wrench, especially seeing it subsequently on the road and realising how good it looked from the viewpoint you never got to see yourself. I replaced mine with a C5 Z06 but it was never the same and now the supercharged Mustang which i probably don't use half enough.

Yes, seeing the gleaming car being driven off up the lane in the sunshine was particularly gut-wrenching. I will especially miss it in a couple of weeks for the trip to Le Mans, somehow it was the perfect sort of journey in the car, empty French autoroutes, 2000rpm at 80mph. Oh well.

With regards to its replacement, I have had an MG ZT-T 260 for the last year, a great car that I have been really pleased with.

However, I keep thinking of alternatives, maybe a Mustang or a Monaro or dare I say it a 996 if I could find one that was cheap enough. Then again an early Corvette C5 would be the realisation of a dream but the kids might moan a bit. Decisions, decisions.

A bad decision. That car was the perfect basis for lifelong tinkering and upgrading. How you can even mention a P*****e in the same post as V8 muscle is totally beyond me. You need to have several pints of Harvey's; eat some pickled eggs and then pop over to LM to listen to the C6R's for a few laps. That should put you back on the right path.

Well, I will be trying to sleep witin a few yards of the C6Rs next week so I am sure you are right and it is maybe just a little temporary madness. I am just tryng to plan the next move and I seem to remember that you rather liked a certain 996........

Always a shame to sell a car if you're attatched to it. I had a '74 Camaro years back, and really missed that for ages! Mind you, as soon as you get behind the wheel of your next one, it definately helps!
PS, that red/white '72 looks real nice too.
