Mustang... 5.0 litre... all over for Camaro!
Do you have a pirate game? No.
I'll wait....
Wonder if, when they bring in the 5.0, they'll make the 4.6 the base engine to compete with the Camaro's 300hp 3.6 or will they make the 5.0 a higher scale model like the Challenger RT.

It'll be interesting, given the state of GM, to see what happens with the Camaro.
Much as I (still) love my Mustang, the Camaro is the only car out there that I'd swap it for, and that YouTube clip has only reinforced my feelings. Borla cat-backs and a supercharger should sort it perfectly (and I haven't even got one yet!)

The more I see the Camaro... the more I don't want it.
You can easily add power to the Mustang, but you can't easily shed weight from the Camaro.
I'll stick with my Pony ta
I'm a long way short of being convinced by this argument. The Mustang can make do with less by being lighter to start with. Adding a supercharger adds weight and raises the CofG. More power generally requires bigger and heavier wheels, brakes and tyres which the Camaro already has.You can easily add power to the Mustang, but you can't easily shed weight from the Camaro.

The GT500 proves the point and weighs more than the Camaro, coming with Brembos and a 6 speed transmission. Of course, Ford could make a blown GT but, for whatever reason and one only Ford can answer, they don't.
The other downside of this claim is that a good blower adds about $5000 to the cost of the Mustang GT which would make it about $2000 more than the Camaro SS and $3400 with the Track pack.
So the fact is that every car here is a compromise built to a price and any one of them can have power added and it's the overall cost that is the clincher.
It's great to see them all together at last! Lets hope the economy and harsh CAFE regulations don't spoil the party
Mustang for me, but I don't think you can lose with any of them. Lets face it, these cars are bought by your heart, not your head, so go with whatever one makes it beat faster

Thru the ages the Fbody's have always out muscled and usually out performed the Mustang, but always managed to sell enough to keep the Stang on top sales wise.
I can't see this trend changing. As good as the 5.0 cammer is, its still bigger and heavier than the LS block and when used in the MG SV always came across as slightly lacking. As I've said before, I think Ford should offer the DOHC supercharged Cobra engine from the 2003/4 Mustang Cobra. It was rated at 390hp but probably made more like 400-420. Would match up well with the Camaro in output terms.
Not sure I can see a production 5.0 litre being sold at 400hp n/a, I don't know what engine this is, but assuming its the same 5.0 litre cammer DOHC motor from the Ford Racing parts catelog. I can't see it being tuned any higher in specifc output terms more than the 4.6, that would make only 350hp. Didn't MG run it at 385hp?? So maybe that's acheivable.
Details are scant but it's dubbed Coyote, will debut in the F150, is rumoured to have 400hp and the last link is a spy photo

It is believed that this engine will replace the 5.4 litre in the GT500 in blown form and if you "do the math", you'll see the Mustang, being lighter, needs less than 400hp to match the Camaro's power to weight ratio but much depends on the weight of the engine. Whatever, you'll have to wait until at least 2014 for an all-new Mustang with IRS.

Interesting. Can't see it making 400hp and 400lb ft from only 5 litres in a truck though. Most trucks are toned for low end grunt than HP. But it is about time the old modular range was replaced, as good a motor as they are they are a long way from being the pinnicle of multivalve engine OHC engine tech. Also a bit big and heavy.http://mustangs.about.com/b/2008/04/21/50l-mustang...
