Hey,

I am planning to get my 1987 Camaro back on the road for the spring. I want to sort out a few niggling faults with the interior first.

Basically I want to repair my front seats but am unsure as to whether they are actually faulty. I have the stock seats and want to know if the seat backs are supposed to lock into position, because mine can be pushed forwards without releasing any catch. The recliner handle on the side lets you put the seat into a reclined position, but you can’t adjust the seat at an angle any greater then about 60 degrees with respect to the floor, which forces me to sit quite far back.

I hope all that makes sense! If indeed they are supposed to lock then I can look into getting a new mechanism.

Cheers

James

Mine never did. The seatbelts tend to lock you in. That's not to say they didn't lock originally but even if they did, they wouldn't last long.
