Considered the Pure Highway DAB in-car radio converter at about £70? Recieves all DAB broadcasted stations in local area - you simply tune FM car radio to predetermined frequency - Highway then transmits all DAB stations to existing radio in stereo but as a FM frequency.

Know what you mean - if you have sat nav + mobile charge lead etc etc it all gets a little messy.

Hi, Just found out about a 'band expander' for us radios, it moves it 0.1 mhz, want to get one for my Dodge Ram. Company is Merlin Productions, quoted me £29.95 inc P&P, not sure if cheap or not ? Let me know what you think !

Hi, Have been in touch with the guy via e-mail, it seems it fits in-line on the aerial cable ( means its hidden ) and you put a switch on the power supply, so you power it up when you want a even numbered station ! It doesnt seem that cheap though, others are on e-bay much cheaper albeit they say for Japenese cars. Did think about asking for a deal if we could come up with a 'group buy' sort of idea ( depending on numbers, to make it worthwhile ! ).
In the meantime will keep looking and may well e-mail the company put forward in NZ.

im definately interested, ive done a bit of research and dont think the jap ones will work as they will still have the odd/even decimal point tuning problem

Yes, we can make it to order, a 100 kHz Band expander for American Imported car Radios if you wish. Actually, it is two FM band expanders in one! First one will increase incoming bandwidth for 26.600 MHz and second one will decrease it for 26.500 MHz and the difference will be 0.100 MHz.

Stephan

Does this enable our american radios to get the 'even' and 'odd' numbered stations without there needing to be a switched supply to your unit, or is it like the others where you use the radio as normal for 'odd' numbered stations then flick a switch for 'even'. Could you also give us an idea of price per unit for these and the postage/shipping price if possible. Maybe for more than one unit also ( discounted for one parcel maybe ) Regards.

I had one from NZ to use on a US radio and it did work allowing even and odd numbered stations, but I was never satisfied with it. There is no RDS or auto tuning which may not sound like much of an issue, but I found that even on my short 10 mile commute to work, stations would fade out until I manually tuned up or down to the next frequency. I imagine that UK market radios with auto tuning will automatically switch to the strongest frequency.

In the end I found it too annoying and sold the radio and the expander and bought a UK radio.
