Crown Victoria P71
Discussion
They are the last of the old style Yank Tanks.
Seperate body and chassis construction, leaf springs, four speed auto and a low power, high torque V8 engine. They don't go round corners and wallow when going over bumps, ultra light steering, crappy interior plastics and trim.
As mentioned, they are so uncool they are actually pretty cool!
If it's an ex police car, they are even better as they have a bit more power and beefed up suspension.

They've usually had a very hard life. By the time the cops and taxi drivers have done with them, they're invariably shagged-out. Dirt cheap in the US mind...
I would half agree with that statement, we looked at some NY cars and they were knackered, as were most of the State cars we encountered. The one we ended up with was from a small PD outside of Dallas that one regular driver had the use of.It used to tow one of the "Your Speed Is" trailers
117k miles, non smoker and and did not live up to the "vomit comet" reputation of many
I was going to bring in an Impala Police car but when I posted up on a US/UK forum, all I got was posts saying that you cant run around with Police written on the side....
Those that run these cars, Have you had any experience like that? What does the SVA or Mot guys say when it goes through?

SVA we had to take all the toys off/out, partition, search light, push bar, console etc. Those that run these cars, Have you had any experience like that? What does the SVA or Mot guys say when it goes through?
MOT time, they loved it.
We had a master switch to make sure you didn't accidentally put on the lights or siren...
When we did hired jobs we fitted clear light lenses to the light bar and we had some magnetic sheet printed with the letter T in the correct font, so when on the road, the word POLICE read POLITE.
I think some guys buy or replicate something that does not scream POLICE down the side, LAPD, NYPD or Sheriff.
Ours was a bit too obvious when it came in, hence the NYPD scheme:
Update: I bought a 2005 P71 for $5K and it's probably one of the best 'fit for purpose' cars I've ever owned:-
Shrugs off wrecked road surfaces
Has a trunk big enough to fit in 2 'whack jobs' at once
Has a spotlight I can use to illuminate the area around my garage to make sure there are no stab crazed crack heads lurking in the area
Burns up cheap gas at a reassuringly fast rate
Makes a whizzy fizzing induction noise when you boot it
Can be parked anywhere without fear
Amusement factor when other road users falsely believe you're a member of the law enforcement community and dive out of your way/brake hard/freak out/jettison their stash.
Can't recommend them highly enough when used in the environment they were designed for
