I know that it is not a good time to be selling a car, particuarly one with a V8.
I am however starting to get a bit dejected. When I bought my new car I wasn't too fussed whether I sold the Camaro or not. A few months on and I am finding that I hardly ever use it so it needs to go. I have advertised it on PH and Classic American and have just reduced the price.
I think it is a really nice car which I have carefully looked after, but nothing. Any ideas on what I can do? Is it worth advertising on Autotrader? Really not keen to go down the ebay route as I don't think I can cope with the scammers and tyre kickers.

The question is.. do you need to sell it? Right now you are selling a car which, I would think, most buyers would consider a toy. People don't buy cars like that when the summer is over, and when the economy is in the toilet.
I figure you can either give it away, or wait for the right buyer. How much time ya got?

I don't have to sell it so there's no great problem. Its just that I am hardly ever using it and I am a bit frustrated. Just have to wait I guess.I figure you can either give it away, or wait for the right buyer. How much time ya got?

hi the best place to sell at the moment for that type of car is europe.you can try two places and i am sure you will have a result.one site is mobil.de which covers germany holand belguim etc and the other site is polish which is allegro.pl.
Thanks for that very interesting, I will look into this. Any ideas why Europe is the place to sell?well there are few good reasons why that market is better at the moment.1st of all you are selling to a bigger market that has alot more intrest in the american cars and the type of car you have its ideal for cruising in that part of europe the other being the money crunch and the cost of petrol.2nd poland has found new wealth and its next door to germany have traveled there few times and its getting more intresting by the day they always loved american cars but never had the money.but at this moment anything in the price range of 5 to 20.000 pounds thts the place.
You're just getting a bit bored as the days get shorter. There's nothing wrong with having cars lazing around doing nothing much other than waiting for the next time you fancy a burn up. I should know. Don't sell it, just use it for a few days every few weeks to remind yourself why you really like it; maybe buy it some interesting mods (like beefier springs, dampers, and sway bars, a better shifter, and recaro seats) and be happy. It's worth keeping for the colour alone.
With these cars, you have to accept you're looking for a very very limited audience. The Camaro is largely unknown in the UK unlike the Mustang and Corvette and suffers accordingly. For most people, anything with a 5.7 litre V8 does 10 mpg and costs a fortune to run, neither of which is true. My Z28 cost me less to run over 4 years than a Fiesta by servicing it myself, so easy is it.
I'm afraid that yours is not the only casualty. A 2005 Mustang recently sold on ebay for £11800 so they aren't making the money. I would avoid Auto Trader - I've never sold a car through them.
Your best bet is to advertise on those sites where you will get interest which includes www.amvo.net and even the Mustang sites like www.mocgb.net and www.s197.co.uk. Stress things like the easy servicing and cheap road tax.
When I sold my Z28, despite being one of the best of it's type with thousands spent on quality mods, I took a reasonable hit, to keep the one buyer I found, interested. Cars reach a point where they start to cost you money in tax and insurance and MOTs so it's often best to just take the hit and put it down to experience and from that point of view, ebay is usually the best immediate sales arena.
In the current climate, the car market is tough. I paid £400 for a Mondeo a year ago and thought I'd won the lottery for that price. I sometimes think I'd have to pay to have someone take it away now.
