VIN Numbers

I am very interested in replacing my truck with a yank. I know a lot about them and have been surrounded by them my whole life but just one glitch. I have found a truck i like in the states and was wondering whether i can check a VIN number for all the trim levels and packages as well as write off ect. Its an 08 Chevy Silverado and i dont really want to fly over to the us on a wasted trip if its not my ideal trim.
If anyone could let me know if there are any websites and stuff I can go on?

Carfax for checking write off or accidents. You can use a UK credit card but you have to enter a US address.
For the trim level just email me the VIN and I ll get all the spec for you from the GM system.

I managed to get in contact with the seller as he was away for th weekend but hes sent me 75 photots, so i would say im pretty set. I'll check the carfax thing just before. Thank you very much!
