S/H - Come up on ebay sometimes
US car breakers (look in Classic American mag)
Some of the bigger yank car service places might have one lying around.
or new/recon - Alders Automatics - (did my 5 speed install) good chaps, others around I'm sure.
If you can get one cheap enough in the states shipping probably be about $250.

Try Adrian at http://www.americanv8engines.co.uk/shop/product_in...
He only sells them for rebuild though, just to cover himself. I know that alders were or did buy some from him to rebuild and sell on. Assuming there are no hard parts damaged, they are quite easy to rebuild and you can upgrade all the common failure areas.
Either way, if buying a s/h one and you intend to put reasonable power through it - you will need to upgrade the servos, band and 3-4 pack. Dont waste your money on a B&M shift kit - stick to transgo shift kits.
If you dont want to do the work yourself, try Alders - they seem reasonably knowledable on them and hold parts for them.
I assume you are putting less than 400ft-lb/bhp through it - otherwise you will need to spend more money beefing it up, my rebuild(s)including how to make the special tools for rebuilding them are here:

Brand new they're under £800

Dunno what shipping/tax would be but it's got to be cheaper than paying someone to recon an existing one.

Carriage is about $500 on a tranny to the UK, so thats $2000, Plus duty, vat and handling fees - which will take you easily over £1200. Then, when you get a problem with it - you have to spend another chunk of change sending it back to the states (and more money getting it back again). I would rather spend that $500 on quality internal hard parts.Dunno what shipping/tax would be but it's got to be cheaper than paying someone to recon an existing one.
You also need to check whats been done to the tranny to hold up to "450 bhp" - as thats likely to be a pack of lies.
I think real-steel sell TCI trannys - if you really want one, but I would suggest getting a UK specialist to build / refurb one - or do the work yourself.
I'm in the process of compiling a web page with links to all the rebuild info for GM 350/700/400/4l80 trannys.
I don't think it would be that much to get the trans into the UK sure there will be duty and what not but it wouldn't be a fortune.
Most places I've seen charge about £1500 to do a rebuild which often is a bit suspect and they're often not hugely great at fixing them when you take them back.
But it's all down to choice, it's same with paying for an engine rebuild, usually for a similar cost of importing a new crate engine.
I think they're worth considering and places like Summit Racing have a very good reputation.
