From today's Automotive News

Detroit - Dodge has priced the 2008 Challenger SRT8 muscle coupe at $37,995, including shipping.

The Challender SRT8 is powered by a 6.1 - liter Hemi V-8 engine, similiar to the one in the Dodge Charger. Chrysler spokeswoman Kathy Graham said the 2008 Challenger will have power similiar to the Charger, which makes 425 hp abd 430 pounds-feet of torque. The 2008 Challenger's Hemi will be mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with auto-stick shifting.

When it arrives in showrooms this spring, the 2008 Challenger SRT8 will be available in black, silver and Hemi orange paint colors.

Dodge dealers will begin taking orders for the muscle coupe Monday, Dec. 3

Well, the prices are out now.....we'll have to wait a few months for the car wink

I assume the production version will be officially launched at the Detroit show in January.

Just a quick update re Challenger- my Dodge dealer in Georgia emailed me to tell me that two allocations had been sold off inter dealer- one for $70k over list and the other $50k over list!!! This is obviously bad news for all of us who are dying to have one over here as premiums will be huge initially. My advice is lock in the exchange rate now and sit back for 12 months before buying, be warned of dealers promising delivery of these early- it will not happen.
