Burnouts seem to have a strange appeal, no doubt enhanced by the mind altering toxic fumes coming from the tyre smoke, lol.

A proper burnout is an awesome demonstration of power, the noise, the smell, the spectacle, it's very primeval and somehow deeply satisfying both do one and watch one. The weedy ones with crappy underpowered cars barely able to spin a single tyre are incredibly lame though.

Well I have at Houston Dragway,
Give me a day or so and I will pull out the pic's.
This was done by a few big diesel's
One I remember quite remarkable was a big ford F350 dually, fully diesel chipped, making some thing like 600 bhp.
that damn thing created more smoke than I had ever seen. !!
I watched an Escalade make a WRX look pathetic, this big Escalade was more than a full second quicker in the quarter than the WRX

it actualy takes very little power to do a burnout, even in the knackerd cutlass, once traction was broken (not hard) it took virtually no throttle at all to keep the wheels spinning, shifting into second it would just bout hold an even wheel speed at WOT though...

I did a burnout in a 1.9 TDI Vectra, although I think the clutch made more smoke than the tyres.

Hire cars are awesome!

True, it seems diesels can do burnouts too...but I doubt if Henry Ford would have approved of this!

If you are going to burn rubber, at least do it properly. And in France with a BRITISH car!
