I declare this first meeting of The Crossfire Club in Session.
I don't see many other Crossfires about, when I do there is a mutual appreciation for this greatly underestimated USA-DE sportscar.
So Crossfire owners, let's be friendly, let's be proud, let's drive our cars out loud.
It's the best car ever.....

Sound,
Performance.
Well there aren't so many of us Crossfire owners about, so I'd like to think this is a selective and discerning club.
(& can give those more familiar 2 seater sportsters a good run for their money, without overfamiliarity or personality afflictions)
Because it's different looking it stands out and what great looks it has.
3.2 V6 Mercedes Benz engine, SLK chassis guarantees reliability.
I'm no great driver but this car is fast and handles corners brilliantly.
For those who don't know about our special little toy, don't mention price, performance, reliability, or the number of people who compliment its appearance.
Have fun, enjoy, appreciate the joys of driving and this car's unique characteristics,
For doubters and nay-sayers, what did Top Gear say were this car's deficiencies, because apart from interior a little sparse and basic I can't find any..............

Clarkson said 'it looks like a dog taking a sh*t.' He had a point.I think the main criticism was that it was an SLK in a suit and that never got any rave reviews either. Still, it looks OK but as an American car, it is let down by not having a V8 but it's just as valid, I suppose, as a 300C which is also a Merc but at least comes with a proper V8 at the top end. It's just that when I buy a Yank, I want it to be all American so as it stands, it's a sort of unhappy stepping stone between the PT Cruiser and proper V8 muscle cars. Neither sports car nor Corvette, neither fish nor fowl but I'm sure a perfectly good car. There again, I would never pay any attention to Top Gear as they have an unreasonable bias against most American cars. I feel the Crossfire has been hurt more than the stronger models like Mustang and Corvette because people are afraid of what others think and, as has been demonstrated perfectly, love to trot out those hilarious quotes like some old Monty Python script which they'll never forget.
No, I wouldn't buy one for the reasons I've set out above but if you like it, then job done (which brings me back to that quote again....will you ever live it down - I don't hink it looks like one anyway but also preferred the vertically stacked headlamp concept to the sanitised production nose). I think it's main problem is the RX8 though.

Funny you should mention that, were going to give them a mention, fasted trucks of their time, but they were trucks so out of my "considered" running. That Buick lump was way under rated. Mitsubishi turbo I believe ? Edited by ws6 on Tuesday 4th September 10:22
