I posted this on the Iternational US page got no responce.

Next spring four of us fly out to Seattle, for three weeks touring Oregon. Not sure what to rent, must acomodate four adults in comfort plus lugage.
We could do two cars but, I'm leening towards a large 4x4.

Your coments please.

Welllllllllll you could always rent a van but if you're like my husband and son you wouldn't be caught dead in one.
The largest of the 4x4's a Ford Excursion -it's a monster to drive a a huge waste of gasoline.
If you have a lot of baggage you could rent a Suburban (if you're a Chev person).
Or if you are a Ford person rent a Expedition ( larger version of the Explorer.
Jeep has a larger 4x4 called a Liberty.
Dodge has an SUV but we aren't allowed to talk about "That" brand in our house.
I know in our area you can rent Hummers and Land Rovers but not sure about the Northwest.

Do you really need the 4x4 option of just the size of the vehicle? If you aren't going off roading and not rental agency will let you - save $$ on gasoline and get the 4x2 version of each vehicle.

I have a 4x4 Ford Expedition the boys call it the "Mom" mobile. It has three rows of seats but with the third seat up it will only fit 4 or five suitcases/bags. With the third seat down it holds tons. When we go skiing everything fits inside but only gets about 13 miles per gallon.

Good luck and enjoy Oregon!

You'd probably want to rent an SUV. It all depends on how much luggage you are carrying. If you are flying into Portland Int'l, I am sure that there are rental agencies right there at the airport, you should be able to get something on-line and have it there for you when you land. Usually the websites here in the states give suggestions based on people. A midsized/fullsized SUV should suit you just fine.

Seattle huh? I'm from just south of Seattle (Tacoma) and our shop is just about a mile from the freeway. If you can/want stop in and I'll give you guys the 25-cent tour of our operations and then have a great excuse to go down to the waterfront for lunch and a pint or two...... If you need anything else, please let me know.
