My Starcraft came from Japan. The telly had been disconnected.

I'm now trying to get the three power feeds behind the telly to power up.

The control panel tells me the TV/VCR is powered on but there is no power to any of the sockets.

Anyone know if there are any fuses for the three feeds ??

Alternatively anyone know a **really good** car electrician who could help troubleshoot.

I have a new DVD + TV + 12v amp ready to go in but no power !

Any other ideas welcome ....

So I bit the bullet and pulled everything apart.

I removed the CD Autochanger from the top box. Removed all the wodden trim from the dash. Pulled the radio out and the bulkhead cover.

I ran a 27 amp fused feed from the battery in through the existing bulkhead cable hole to a switch. (I want to run the dvd/telly without the engine running and be able to isolate the whole lot).

I used the CD autochanger cable to pull through new fused power feed up into the top lockers to the existing power sockets.

I have a Centurion DVD player and a £10 2 x 200w amp off ebay into a new LCD telly. The new LCD tellies are so much lighter and draw a lot less current than the 10 year old "tube" it's a no brainer to replace ...

I used the LCD telly wallmount brutally hacksawed down mounted on a piece of MDF in the hole where the old telly sat so that the telly can be tilted down slightly ....

I also junked the old speakers and replaced them with new 6" 3 ways ...

The kids then promptly sat in the van all afternoon :-)

I have the exact same job to do in my van. It had a jap tv up there when I bought it, which was disconnected, and there's no power up there at all, except for the feed to the multichanger.

I’ve re-trimmed the rear of my van to get rid of most of the horrible wood. I’ve now put in a 12v lcd tv/dvd which has it’s own built in rechargeable battery. To charge it, I currently have to plug it in to one of the 12v outlets in the rear or the dash, but I want to run it’s own permanent feed up there.

I also need to get rid of the jap stereo for a decent one with i-pod control. Was the stereo much grief to remove? Mine doesn’t look like it comes out of the front like normal car stereos, so I presume I’ve got to remove some of the dash?

Leigh,

It's actually pretty straight forward once you get going !

I swapped out the Japanese radio for a Pioneer with iPod connection. the only pain is the number of speakers in the van and the usual butchered connections.

I cut out all the butchered bits and ended up with the aerial, power, the block connector and ipod cable. Once you have it all near it all fits. (With the stringy mess the radio didn't fit the dash) I used a spacer as I needed the power feeds for the top boxes etc.

I'm down in Basingstoke so a bit further away for a "reference visit" but feel free to PM if you want ...

This is the LCD

And the DVD (the flash picks up the cables at the back !)

The radio in mine looks like ..

And the van :-)
