We had a really good time on Saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
Did you manage to have a run down the strip or was it fully booked up Graeme,Had a good day on Saturday. It was fairly busy, certainly busier than last year, but not like it used to be. It's not cheap at £72 for two tickets I suppose, I burnt probably the same again in SUL as well
I can't say I enjoy mixing it with the lorries on the M1, but when your car's 'happy cruising speed' is about 60mph, there's not much choice. The old girl didn't miss a beat on the 120 odd mile round trip though.

TBH I've found that 'mixing-it' with the commericals in lane 1 is not such a bad idea (provided everyone keeps respectible distances - seen the results of so many Youtube videos of artic's on foreign roads running 'over' the top of cars and other trucks to be compacent).
The trucks will generally be driving at a limited 58 mph (which generally translates as 62/63 on most speedos) - also hopefully keeps you away from all of the bumper to bumper lane hoggers in other lanes.
Last journey I made up to the CCCUK Nats in Bedfordshire a few years back was on the A1M at temperatures much like todays.....so 33/34 C.
Naturally concerned about overheating I had plenty of time to figure the optimum speed/coolest running temperature.
A GPS indicated 62 mph seemed to maintain the coolest running temperature ar cruise (indicated 185/190 degrees F) - slower meant hotter (as did faster)

Love those period Centre-line wheels ,especially against the highly polished black paintwork.I can't say I enjoy mixing it with the lorries on the M1, but when your car's 'happy cruising speed' is about 60mph, there's not much choice. I'm painfully aware that I'm in an almost sixty year old tin box and my wife's sat there on the 'vulnerable side', it's not just lorries either, bloody Kia SUVs seem to be one of the worst for sitting up your chuff. Just bloody overtake, you've got 2 or 3 other lanes to choose from! On the subject of temps, mine sits at around 160 at 60mph on the GPS which is about 2300rpm, at 70 the temp goes up to 170, so that's why I keep it at that speed.

Thanks RR. I much prefer the old skool 15s, I'm not a fan of big rims on these old motors, each to their own though.Had them on my Sublime green RT Challenger which a footballer ended up with and fitted 20" Carlos Fandango wheels , Bloody moron,
These are American Racing AR61s (thanks google!), they're only 7 inches wide but with that backspace on the rear they stick out and it looks a bit odd from some angles. I think with the right backspace I could squeeze 8s in there without any fouling, so that's the plan if I can find some.
