Does anyone here have one?

Have a test drive in a 4 door booked for this Sunday, I can have it for around 3-4hrs so should get a good feel for it.

I had a 10 minute drive in a modified one at a dealers up in Hull and, although a very short drive, was impressed by it overall.

So as per first line, anyone here have one and can give an insight in what they're like to live with? Fully aware they may be a bit heathen to some however, I like mad vehicles and a standard SUV would leave me cold. Have hung my nose over a Stelvio Quadrifoglio and a F-Pace SVR but apart from being fast nothing else appealed on them.

Some time in the not a million years away future I'll be in a position to buy something to sit alongside the Clio V6 and I'm trying to decide what before the cash is in my pocket. I think that not doing my research prior could easily lead to buying the wrong vehicle!

Not fussed on speed as, when the situation arises, the Clio will be in for major engine works and will sit at around 290bhp which will do me fine. Also have garage space for only one vehicle (which will be the Clio) so ideally need something that I'd be happy to leave outside and also use everyday no matter how crappy the weather is.

The Wrangler wouldn't be staying oem either!. Not really into off-roading but that's no reason in my eyes not to have a vehicle capable of it biggrin

TIA

The one I tried...

I recently bought an ex-demo 4 door as a family hauler. Myself and the wife both love it, however it’s thirsty (2.0T) and it’s quite noisy inside with the chunky standard tyres and the lack of sound proofing on the fibreglass top.
Other than that it’s spot on.
Plenty of power, drives nice and seems pretty well built.

I don't have the rubicon but I have got the sahara
as above, very noisy inside especially on the motorways and MPG is pretty horrendous and in 2H mode if you're not paying much attention the back end can decide to suddenly flick out under not a lot of power around corners

BUT

a lot of fun to drive, gets a lot of looks and compliments and you feel pretty invincible in it
quite nippy for such a big car and the interior is actually quite nice, infotainment is surprisingly good
sound system is really good with the sub woofer in the back (helps cancel out that road noise)
the included Jeep roadside/warranty were very good when my water pump went kaboom the other week
I have to give mine back in January as its only a lease but If I could afford to buy it afterwards I 100% would

I took one out for a test drive and absolutely hated the way it drove. No steering feel, constantly sawing away at the wheel, noisy, rattily, hateful piece of junk.

However I would still buy one. There's nothing else like them out here in the UK anymore, huge fun and what an iconic looking thing.

There's a chap started a thread in Readers' Cars who's just bought one - you could ask him (he seems to like it).

I have a JLU sahara in punk n' orange. I think it's a great car, lots of fun and reasonably comfortable. Mine is a 2.0 petrol, and I think is reasonable on fuel. 22 around town and up to 30 on a run (the latter is a bit boring). The role cage effects the usable space inside quite a lot, and teh freedom top creaks like mad. The rear seats can be flipped up, which i fine really useful.

Mines on a lease, and I was looking at buying, however I have had a number of problems with mine, which have put me off doing so.

Mainly silly things like the alarm going off randomly, the stereo not always working. The seat occupancy light and alarm going on when ever the rear seat is lowered, and the water pump leaking. After many trips to the dealers, i've given up on the alarm and stereo.

If I owned it I would definitely get at least a sunrider for it, if not full soft top. I do keep looking for a cheap used one, and missed out on a couple during the first lock down.

My water pump went as well. I assume this is the same as the Alfa one, which makes me wonder if they have the same issues (i'm tempted by a stelvio next). Agreed Jeep assist were great and gave me a XC60 T6 for the 3 weeks it to the dealer to replace the pump. It is very light over the rear wheels, and reminds me of driving rwd pickups when I was younger, although I find the TC is actually pretty good if you let it do it's thing.

Well, had the car for 5 hrs today and, to be honest, it blew me away!

I found its comfort and its road manners way beyond my expectations of it.

Live in Derby so took it on the A38 to see how it behaved on a fast road and then into the Peak District to try A roads and country roads. I couldn't fault it on anything.

At least it's made my mind up what to get when the chance arises.

Love nacho as a colour; and love the Rubicon. I’d have to change the red dash/ fascia cover though.
