To cut a long story short, It's been about 2 weeks since I paid a shipping company a decent chunk of money to collect a car I've bought in a private sale, and I still don't even have a firm timeline for any aspect of the process. The US subcontractor rang the seller to arrange collection last weekend, but did a no call/no show on him and appear to have now gone radio silent, I've asked for a collection date about 10 days ago from the UK side, but still haven't received anything.
I'm just wondering if I've just gone a bit mad or if this is normal? I've got half a mind to sack them off and get my money back and effectively project manage it myself.

It’s a really bad time to be shipping anything at the moment, there are delays everywhere. In saying that the car should have been picked up and at least be at the port by now, could you contact the transport co in the US directly and ask them what the issue is?
I’m going through the same process at the moment. Bought in January, expected delivery mid March, which is now mid April, but in all likelihood will be May. It has taken the shine off it.

I agree, definitely makes it feel less special. I've left a voicemail with the US shipping agent, but don't know how much that will help, it's my UK shipping agent that needs to put pressure on this, they're the one that arranged it.I’m going through the same process at the moment. The other annoying thing, is the car is going consolidated container via LA (1200 miles away) when Tacoma is about 200 miles away and has Ro-Ro service.
The impatient part of me wants to get it taken 2700miles to Baltimore where a Ro-Ro would only take 10-11 days in transit....
Mine is also going from LA, Long Beach to be exact, but mine was purchased in LA, so it made sense at the time. It’s a heck of a journey as I’m sure you are aware.
Baltimore would be ideal, but transportation in the US seems to be ridiculously expensive. See if you can get them to change ports and pay for the extra transport.
What did you buy?

I'll tell them to take it to Tacoma and ask for £700 back! Baltimore would be ideal, but transportation in the US seems to be ridiculously expensive. See if you can get them to change ports and pay for the extra transport.

Mines going with CFR Rinkens it seems, never know, we might be container buddies
