Just taken my head out of Rods&Sods , On Topic , "What's in the trim shop this week " Even if you're not keen on Rods you can't help but to
fall in love with what must be one of the nicest Rods i've seen,
There's a video showing the detail work that's gone into this stunning 32 5 window Rod, , could have been built for me.
Carpets,headlining ,seats ,door panels everything mine hasn't got and to such a
high standard. Lovely period dark burgundy paint which makes a change from the usual black.

Check out the storage satchels in the door panels and in the boot with its intricate buckles.
What a clever talented guy this Chris is.
As i'm ocd the rat look is a ideal distraction from the normal shinny cars, needing nothing but driving with no paint to polish or carpets to hoover.
Probably be more relaxed and enjoy driving the Rat Rods more. but what a lovely thing to own .
The trouble is i would spend more time polishing than driving ,

Nice 40 Ford dash and wheel, and its nice to see the slushbox hooked up to a period column change as well.
Very nice interior, and apart from the lovely door pocket storage details, not too dissimilar in style to what my 3w will look like.
Just needs some added patina gained from having the wheels driven off of it

Its a mix n match of era's, with modern 'vintage look' low dropped original style headlamps, checkerboard firewall, 3 deuces etc., but, very much of that early 80's era stance with the very big n little's etc., and with a severe haircut 
That could be a big Plod pull magnet being fenderless with that wheel/tyre combo in some parts of the UK though.Not my taste, but thats the great thing about a hot rod, they can be exactly to your own taste, no matter what that is.

Just have not had the opportunity. It was built and owned quite a few years ago by a guy that is known for these rods. Lives Southend way I believe. Mine's on steel wheels with wide white wall cross ply's,

So far he has not had an issue with the exposed tyres. I have warned him

Did your BiL buy this car from a specialist dealer in Chelmsford?

good your Hellcat is, don't think you will want to be doing any track days in one although the smooth surface may help.
I walked away from my 3 window after a test drive with all the rattles and bags and totally ignoring my steering input
but after driving a couple more realized that there all much the same so went back and bought the first one as it
actually drove better out of the three, I think they are only as good as the builder and his budget,
The Hot Rod builder you are referring to is probably Jon Golding at Home Grown Hot Rods, if it is it will drive as good as it gets,
but there are quite a few around now, not a cheap exercise anymore, almost open cheque book stuff, Since Lord March has come out of the
closet after buying his first Hot Rod and a few yanks the tweeds have taken to what was our best kept secret making it
not a cheap hobby anymore. mind you nor is anything else these days. I've never had a problem regarding open tyres , did get
pulled once and had just taken off the caps on the headers so was very loud after a check on the his data base looking confused
said well it must be ok then after asking me is this what they call a Rat Rod then..
All it takes is one bored copper ,safety in numbers out on your own you are a sitting target, My first line in defence is that you
can drive out of a mot test station with a pass but get pulled over on the first roundabout ,seems the left hand doesn't know what the
right hand is doing.

There is no right or wrong or do's and don'ts with a hot rod, that's the attraction of them. They are a personal statement. Many of us have a preference over one era or the other probably, but it's not right or wrong as such.You could right a book on the various changes of style and look through the past 7 decades of hot rodding across the multiple continents.

Although done to death still think black works so well along with wide whites, alright satin or matte withoutthe white walls if going for the tuff look, I prefer the nostalgia bare bones look with no bonnet and fenderless
on steels but each to there own, Lucky i'm a short ass and have no problem with the chopped roof but my son
has to lay down and look upwards to see any traffic lights and takes him a couple of hours to straighten his neck
after a run . Just got to remember every couple of months to go round and tighten all the bolts up,
Definitely not for the shy as they cause a riot at Sainsbury's with kids all wanting to sit in it, i'm sure they think
the Roadster is Cocco the clowns car.
