GMC jimmy not on insurance database

hi all.
just wondering if anyone can help, im looking at buying a 1985 GMC jimmy, just tried a comparisment site and the reg doesnt come up, rang my insurance company, admiral and no joy with them either, tried a American car specialist, same with them, asked current owner who he used, checked with them and the same, reg not found, yet it comes up on DVLA and when I did a HPI check, anyone any idea whats going on, or how id go about insuring the car, 4 previous MOT's so must of been here 4 years at least, on dvla sit it say date of first registration 1998, year of manufacture 1985??

You will not find imported cars like that on Comparison websites.
With a Yank you are far better off going to a specialist for quotation and policies. They offer limited mile policies and in times like these, laid up policies where you may not be taking your car out for a while.
