Hi guys. Anyone know how to locate the actual date a car was registered in the US when new? I have a vin number, it's a chevy c10 (1987). I'd like it on an "E" plate, not a "D" plate. Any advice?

Hi, thankyou I will give that a go. I emailed one of the shipping companies and was told that DVLA will assume 1/1/87 if the title says 1987 and there is no further details of registration/build. The shipping company said it was highly unlikely to have been built OR registered late enough to qualify for an "E", which is a shame,

DVLA will use the 1/1/87 as the date regardless of the actual date of first registration in that year. That's just the way they roll.....

DVLA are a mystery unto themselves. I got a 67 plate on my 2015 imported Hellcat.

Have you thought of doing a CarFax on the vehicle?

That has happened to a couple of people, with the irony of DVLA refusing to correct their mistake without the original paperwork, which was sent to them with the registration application & not returned.
