Hi,

Following a recommendation on here, i'm thinking of buying a Grand Cherokee, budget is £5k.

It looks like that gets you a V6 diesel around 10 years old with just under £100k miles.

I don't know much about Jeep apart from seeming to remember that American cars have/had a bad reputation for reliability. Saying that, I believe the engine and autobox are Mercedes built, is this correct? Any issues with buying one of this age and mileage? Anything specific to look for? I know they're great off road and there don't seem to be any common faults from what i've read online, which is what made me consider one in the first place. Can anyone tell me more about these?

Thanks

Owned 3 grand Cherokee 3.0crds and also V8 of the same vintage.

All vehicles have their niggles but on the whole they have been reliable powerful jeeps. The are a little thirsty though.
