Importing an originally USA registered car into France, after UK ownership/ registration

Can anyone offer any advise on procedure & charges for importing a yank mobile to France, by a French resident please?

If particular vehicle details are required, it's a yr2000 stock Dodge (USA manufacture) Viper GTS.

So far I've got:

http://www.frenchpropertylinks.com/essential/regis...

Import Tax('VAT') in EU = 0 (car is old: year 2000)
Pollution Tax = 0 (car is before 2004)

https://www.lacentrale.fr/fiche-technique-voiture-...
PF~= 40
Engine size = 7990cc
Emmissions = 480g/km
Destination: Lyon

While the UK is still part of the EU, it shouldn't be a problem, registered UK cars are exported to all over the EU in private sales, a friend bought a Belgian registered car into the UK last year, not a problem.

I see you say it is a stock car. No import tax into France. But I do remember from a friend that lives in France getting a car registered out there can be a real PITA. Look into it first. From memory it is something to do with the French equivalent of the English MOT

IIRC you need a certificate of conformity from the manufacturer to show it was made to french standards. This means that it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to import a car that wasn’t also sold in France.
I believe there are exemptions for historic or otherwise unusual vehicles but I have a vague memory that there are also limitations on use for those vehicles.

Thank you all for your insights. It seems despite us all being in the EU, different EU countries still have distinctly different requirements....or maybe that's just France! They seem particularly pedestrian in dealing with their paperwork processing, although that's from experiences that occurred a while ago. Some of the procedure is now digital at least.
Conformity Cert is something I've been following up, with Dodge (USA). For export to any EU country I'm hoping that the fact the Chrysler Viper was officially sold in some Euro countries will make the USA cert recognisable in Europe, although the Chrysler variant was more restricted....

I've sold dozens of US cars to dealers in France.
None have had a certificate of conformity as they don't exist for US cars.

It can be done, but it's not cheap or easy.

Seems to be a pretty comprehensive list of requirements here, taking into account vehicle age too
