Hey all,

First time posting, have been searching the web but can't really find any concise information.

I've obtained a Chevy 350 lump and intend to drop into a Dax Cobra.

I note a lot of the Cobra community go for the rather expensive TKO options, but have noted some went the Getrag route.

What I cannot seem to find for the life of me are some specs that will help me find the right box.

Is there a simple resource on there on what's compatible, we're looking for future performance improvements so 500 lbs / 500 bhp would be the target capacity.

I understand I need a bell housing compatible with a 350 Chevy.

There seems to be lots of options from Getrag, anyone know which is the right one/or how I might determine the right specifications for compatibility.

I've been informed a ratio of 3 or lower in 1st is ideal due to the car weight being around 1,000 kgs and the engine being very powerful.

Any resource, knowledge share and input would be greatly valued.

Thanks
J

Until someone more technical than me replies, I take it you've had a look on the UK Cobra Club forum...?
You should join the forum and ask on there for more info.
There's this thread - http://www.cobraclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55...
Otherwise, I'd call AK ( https://www.aksportscars.co.uk ) even tough it's not for an AK, as they are really friendly and helpful and I bet they'd know for sure.
I do miss my AK.....!

Have been trawling the web to make sense of this and think I’ve finally got my head around it!

So, to ensure items are compatible you basically need a flywheel, clutch alignment and the ability to bolt the gearbox on.

Now, I seemingly see two routes for this. 1) custom bellhousing with gearbox stud pattern or 2) adaptor plate between Chevy and desired gearbox.

Is it really that simple?

Seems people have custom bell housing and adaptor plates, I’m not sure I understand why?

I’m waiting for CobraClub to approve but it’s been 2 months and doesn’t seem anyone is approving new members!

Any knowledge on mating gearboxes would be most welcomed.

Cheers
J
