Forgive the very newby dumb question (first post!), but will a bog standard "buy it on Amazon UK" compression tester work with a 1990s chevy 350 5.7 engine, or is a US (imperial?) sized adapter required?

Thanks!

Spark plug threads are the same so yes.

Yes,

Spark plug threads are metric, so should definitely work.

Just be warned, cheap testers may give inferior results. Is this a leak down tester or a compression tester?

Thanks Camaro - as it happens, I've not gone with the vehicle I had in mind when posting, (would have needed to know for sure whether it needed new valve seals or a full rebuild), but I was wondering what is the difference - would be great to know for the future and for others who are new to big old V8s.

On the subject of testers, loads available for up to £30 or so - are they all as likely as each other to give inaccurate results?
