. Hi guys I've recently imported this beauty . 1962 SS impala 409 , 4 speed dual quads positraction . Frame off Restored about 5 years ago . Drives lovely , cruises on the motorway straight and true , no squeaks or rattles . Pulls strong 💪. Planning on having a bit of fun with her and do a few shows then either sell it or p/x for a nice late 60s muscle car . My question is ? With prices going the way they are and considering the rarity what should I be looking at ? ( I paid what I consider to be fairly strong money ) not looking to make a huge profit !

Supply & demand mate.

If somebody really wants it, they will pay what you ask within reason.

If I was in the market for this right now and being a fairly rare & iconic model, I'd be looking at the total cost of bringing one in from the USA.

Seeing as yours is already here, it would be worth paying a small premium over that because yours is turnkey and on the road here.

That out of the way, what a beauty.

Basically as Adam said above , what it cost v finding somebody to buy it for that aren't allways compatible
£30 to 50k ? , Depending on type of restoration, condition now, originality, No's matching etc

That looks a beauty. Is it a numbers matching car. That will help make a big difference on the sale price

Hi guys , thanks for your replys . It's a nice original proper SS car , only upgrades being power brakes and steering . I would say it's had a nice Restoration and it's certainly as good underneath as it is on top ! I think your estimates on pricing seem fair and would probably be looking for high 30's later in the year . I don't have to sell it but I'm running out of storage so I will try and move it on .

Nice.......red on red, and with all the right bits.

Obviously, 61 bubble tops are where the top money is, but 62's are rare over here, so a For Sale sign on it at the right shows during the summer would likely find a buyer I would have thought. High 30's would be about right I would have thought.

I love 409's......would have loved to have put one in my '32, but took the 'sensible' route and made do with a run of the mill SBC instead.

I love the bubble top rooflines as well , used to have a 61 cad. Personally my all time favourite would be a 62 Belair Bubble top , now that is a rare car over here !!

Don't think I could resist putting on headers with solenoid cut-outs though as 409's sound just so angry running open headers smile

I’d say you prob have a better idea than us on sale price as you’ve just bought it

I’d say whatever you paid in the USA is a fair price over here so reckon you would lose the import costs etc

Issue is if you sell over here you have a tiny market and if I were buying I’d look stateside too to open my options up

You can't sell it, an Impala is for life, not just for Christmas smile. Lovely car you have there, I still need to own a 409 car but for some reason I still get a kick from owning and driving my 59, even after owning it for 29 years. Might be something to do with the 348/tripower/4-speed combo though! W motors are great and sound much nicer than small blocks. There have been a couple of 63 409 Chevs for sale in the recent past, a Belair and an Impala but they didn't seem to be that easy to move on. Now if I win a very large amount on the Euro lottery I'll be in touch! Have fun with the 62.

I really wanted to put a W-block in my '32 instead of a SBC, but budget wouldn't stretch that far.

A 59 with a 3x2 348 and a 4-speed..!!

I've always had a thing for the 59, just love those rear wings/fins/lights.

Probably something to do with having one of these as a child laugh



Mind you, you could always just drop a 409 into the 59 biggrin

If anybody knows of a '62 bubble top (must be '62) for sale in the UK, please let me know, a friend has a long standing itch he needs to scratch. smile

Easier to just import one from USA, will be cheaper than buying one already in the UK (even if there is one for sale in the UK)

Not that its easy to find a '62 bubble top in the USA.

Plenty of '61 bubble tops around though, not so much '62's.

Very true, my 59 has power disc brakes and uprated suspension so a 409 would be fine smile As for the Corgi Impala pictured I can remember buying that model and a Corgi 63 Corvette with some Xmas money, think they were five shillings each. Still have them along with many other models. As for my real Impala here's a gratuitous photo of it, with apologies to the OP for putting my car on his thread.

I have never seen a 62 Belair bubbletop in the UK although that's not to say that there isn't one. There are a few 61 bubbletops around including my old Impala which is undergoing a comprehensive rebuild following an unfortunate incident. Some years ago there was a 61 Belair bubbletop on the scene but I haven't seen it for quite some time. Your friend may have to look in the USA as aeropilot suggests as for some reason 62 Chevs aren't in abundant supply either here or in Europe.

We did go & see a '62 Bubble near Southend about 12 years ago, it was on the road, red, red interior, 350, auto, a fare bit of rust, but too much else to sort to make nice, my mate always has a couple of projects on the go, so just didn't want another.
We both have imported quite a few cars over the years, so that's not a problem, as said they aren't that common in the USA!
There is a '61 bubble in deepest Surrey, 409, twin 4bbls, 4 speed, being restored to race as a clone of Dan Gurney's Jaguar slaying race car from back in the day.
