Rattvik, Sweden - Classic Car Week
Discussion
My wife is Swedish and we are currently on holiday near Rättvik, a town in mid-Sweden about three hours from Stockholm. We came to Rättvik in mid-August last year and were told the town was much quieter after the car show had ended. I wondered how big a show in a little town in Sweden could be and didn't think much of it after that. This year we came a couple of weeks earlier and have been here for the entirety of Classic Car Week, it wasn't really intentional to be here while the show was on, as again I didn't realise its scale. The centre of the entire town has been swamped by cars attending the show for the past week, most of which are older American cars, though you will see the occasional modern Corvette, Camaro or Mustang, I haven't seen any of the modern Dodge offerings.
Here are some of the pictures I took today while walking around. Hopefully, I'll get some more tomorrow, which is our final day before heading back to Stockholm and then back to the UK. I keep seeing a really nice purple Challenger, black Charger, a 70 Chevelle and a pair of '69 Camaros I'd like to get pictures of, so hopefully I'll find them before we leave. What I've included so far in this thread represents a tiny population of the interesting cars currently in Rättvik.

Classic Car Week is great, very laid back and lots to and see every day, the Tuesday cruise night and Weds lake days are my faves. We always drive over to Vasteras in one of our classics for the Power Big Meet in early July, a couple of years ago we left our 63 Cadillac out there at a friends then flew back out for the Rattvik event, we rented a big house up on the hill over looking the lake for a week. Would love to do it again

We rented a place on the hill last year, it was great. This year we're in Siljansnäs, which has also been great, though quite a bit further away. We're planning on getting a cottage here, so we'll probably be regular attendees in the future. Edited by Motorama on Friday 5th August 14:06
Today was much quieter and very wet, so I didn't get many pictures and especially not many good ones.

I packed in as much as I could in 2 weeks in Sweden.
Depends if the dates are the same in 17 and if you're interested in historic rallying and rx.

For those that aren't aware, this years Power Big Meet was apparently the last due to some low Lifes robbing the guy that organises it.Drove all the way there firstly in my Escort Cosworth then twice in my Fiat.

I wasn't planning on going again but that's still crappy news.
The other bloke who's been 18 times might be more upset.
That report is from a few days after the robbery, a knee jerk reaction, another guy stepped up and said he would run it next year, then the current guy changed his mind and decided he would run a show next year after all. Between them 2 and another couple of guys who have offered to run it im pretty sure it will go ahead in one form or another, it brings in so much money for the town they wont want to lose itThe other bloke who's been 18 times might be more upset.
Theres a bit of a twist to that though. As soon as Gustavsson (the organiser) said that, one of his former partners (a bloke called Brink) booked up the site for next year. This caused Gustavsson not only rethink his decision, but also to break off all forms of co-operation with his former partner.
So, the question is still what will happen. Will it be held somewhere else? Or will there be two, one on the old site, one on another? Time will tell...
Motorama: Are you the guy I was talking to a few years ago at the airport?

Ive met Klaus Brinks a few times a nice guy and petrol head, a couple of years ago we got invited to his personal garage to view his car collection just outside Vasteras, a small supermarket converted into a dream garage with dozens of cars, a workshop and a movie theatre. Recently he has bought into Autocraft one of the top restoration houses in Sweden, now renamed Brinkens Garage http://www.brinkensgarage.se/
We may have spoken, not sure, i flew to Vasteras this year but have driven the last 10 or so years, we are usually parked right outside the airport collecting family and friends though when the palne lands on the Weds.
