Just a heads up, our lovely local Chrysler dealer rang to say the recall part was in,when can we come in with the car to get replaced, first we knew of it, so now being booked in to get sorted, any one else had this call from their dealer?

Just had my srt8 challenger serviced at a jeep dealership. Nothing mentioned about recalls. How did they check?

had other recall work done before, husband called Chrysler to get some touch up paint - gave them the vin number and then it showed on their system for recall work, this one is a new one though as the timing chain and hot start problem was fixed when we got the car 2 years ago. hope this helps, ours is 2009 by the way

Some 2008 - 2011 model year Challengers were recently added to Chrysler Recall R37 - Takata air bag inflator. This affects 88,000 Challengers and is limited to vehicles built between September 19, 2007 and October 29, 2010

To check if your car is affected you can enter your VIN here:

http://recalls.mopar.com/

Fiat Chrysler dealers in the UK will fix free of charge, replacing the air bag inflator. I had mine done a few weeks ago and it takes less than and hour to complete the work. Parts are available in the UK and dealers may already be familiar with the procedure as the recall also affects the 300c. I had mine done as a while-you-wait appointment at TH White in Swindon.

Be aware the work involves disconnecting the battery for an extended period, so make sure that you have any aftermarket radio codes or similar. Some dealers may offer a complementary vehicle health check too.

The Takata airbag problem affects millions of cars.

The biggest problem is getting the replacement parts for the recalls. An early recall on a lot of vehicles didn't solve the problem and they're subject to a second recall for which there are no parts.

Vaughan, one thing to bear in mind when requesting a w-U-w is that the battery earth strap recall involves a new battery and 2 new, thicker earth cables, one of which is very close to the exhaust - at least it is on manual tranny cars. Your Tech may want some exhaust cool-down time before putting his hands in that area!

yes Vaughan we left ours there for the timing chain and battery recall, but Hughes very good, very careful with the vehicle, and they have ours back in next week for the airbag, husband did decline the collection and drop off though they offered, will wait as the airbag thing is only upto 90 minutes, appreciate its not right on the door step,

What's the battery recall? Mine came up with airbag and wireless ignition module reprogramming. It's an srt8 2008 BTW.

Ed,

The recall was for a 'slow, hot re-start' issue and included a new battery and 2 new, thicker earth cables.

same as mike, airbag on driver's side now done, just over an hour, all sorted, by good old Hughes of Beaconsfield.

Did that affect the srt8? It didn't come up on my recalls...

Ed, yes it does include some SRT8s, but, like all recalls, is limited to specific VINs. If yours doesn't come up on the MOPAR recall VIN checker then I would not be concerned.
