Will be surprised if anyone has had one over here as there doesn't seem to be many imported.

Spotted one for sale and it peaked my curiosity, really smart looking trucks (in my eyes) that seem to have OK performance and interesting looks! Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of them here, aside from crap fuel consumption they seem to be a pretty decent package & better roadholding than similar sized pickups! Can't imagine there is a lot to go wrong on them aside from maintenance.

Any interesting alternatives? Bearing in mind I'm 23 so sadly SRT rams and Lightnings are out of reach at the moment.

Not an extreme, but we have an S10 4x4 as a shop truck with 150k miles on. It's a good little workhorse.

As per most Chevy trucks and vans of their era the fuel pumps are prone to failure, ours is on it's 3rd - tell tale sign is it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, when normally it pulls strong. If you're handy with a spanner the fuel pump is not too tricky to swap out, taking the bed off is faster if you have the gear to do it.

Only other stuff we've had go wrong are the MAF sensor and a thermostat. They can be prone to rust, just in front of the rear wheels seems to be especially prone.

Otherwise, ours is bobbing along doing a couple of hundred miles a day just fine and dandy.

Those seem like not too bad things, easy to replace at least!

Trying to find any reviews is hard obviously due to the age, but they seem to be the more 'car like' of the trucks. I realise your works one is the proper utilitarian one but would you say it's an okay steer? I realise there's a good amount of difference between the normal and Xtreme (shocks, ARB's etc) but seem good.

I've no idea what I'm directly trying to ask, I have no real need for one but find myself totally taken by them hehe

They're great fun so far as pick up trucks go. I've got an f150 and a ram 3500 dually, so any chance I get to use the S10 it feels like a go-kart. Obviously it's not going to handle like it's on rails but you can sling them about a bit, they're surprisingly 'pointy'.
The engine is a peach, no big numbers or anything but it pulls strong.

Also, the aftermarket is still very much alive and well for them, heaps of parts and upgrades available for them.

Ours is pretty utilitarian but comfy, quiet and does everything we need it to. It's a solid little truck. Try it, if nothing else they're a good candidate for a modern take on some restomod upgrades!

That's pretty positive stuff! Started looking at the possibility of importing one. Got family in Florida so that could help a bit.

Then I started looking at F150 Lightnings, they are cheaper than I expected hehe still dear though & would be more to run though so probably out of the question.

I have genuinely no clue why I've got this sudden obsession, there's nothing in my mind thats saying 'no that's a silly idea' biggrin
