Can anyone recommend somewhere I can get 12 x 6 legal plates made up? I've phoned a few local places and none have them available. In desperation I tried Halfords, and even they couldn't do them.

I could try Claremont corvette or redline American muscle, but they're a bit out of my way - I'm based in Ashford and Tunbridge Wells.

I don't really want to go the online route as I don't fancy sending off my v5, and without doing so the plates aren't technically legal - although if I can't find anywhere I'm going to have to go to proplates...

Any suggestions?

Cheers!

Show plates from any of the online suppliers. No need to send your V5 away.

Just choose legal font and spacing. No they won't have the post code and BS number but as long as they look right you should be fine. I've never had a problem with mine.

Well, I've phoned a few more places and drawn a blank. I've ordered from proplates. Fingers crossed no questions get asked in the future...

I highly doubt you'll have a problem.

My Durango plates are illegal as they have a slogan on the bottom. Sails through its MOT and never been stopped for them as they have legal font and spacing and look fine from a distance.

Ordered pro plates on Friday afternoon, arrived Saturday morning! You can't complain about the service!

Plates look good, they have a cut edge rather than something nicely bevelled, but they're good enough quality. The website and BS number are both in small font and are barely noticeable - the plate looks pretty clean. Car looks good with 'em on - looks more 'proper' than it did with the pressed metal plates.

Hopefully the MOT guy won't turn up his nose at their being no postcode on the plate!

Postcode or manufacturer on the plate isn't part of the MOT, you just need legal (ish) font and spacing.

I've got a set by them on my Bel Air, they look good but took an age to arrive.

Surprised at that, I know they are a small company, I guess they were on vacation?

Now As for MOTs, I also always carry a set of full size compliant uk plates too wink

You may be right, thinking about it, I did order them August last year.
