I need to get some touch up paint mixed for my Cougar.
I've got the Ford code and the DuPont code but I've tried 4 suppliers and no ones been able to mix the paint as they're American codes and apparently don't make sense here!
Anyone able to help?
The ford code is M3230 and DuPont is 4974L and 4975D and the colour is medium green, also known as jade green

There's only the smallest chip at the moment, but let's be honest- that's bound to change

No is the short answer.
I tried all the codes and no one seemed able to convert them.
In the end I had a paint match guy come over and he went through several books of colour cards until we found one that was very close.
Ultimately the answer is to take the car to a paint shop where they can scan the paint and get an accurate code.

I had a similar (but no where near as serious ) problem in taking my Cougar anywhere. Hopefully sorted very soon.
Are you still intending to take it back on the track?
Incidentally, the nearest match for my Cougar was a Fiat colour. Not perfect but will do for the time being.

You might want to try www.automotivetouchup.com for American car codes and official names. I've used them here in the US with good success. I don't know if they will ship to the UK though.

I've sent them an email, thanksApparently, these guys will ship to the UK. But it'll be on a boat so no good if you're in a hurry.

By pure chance, I'm about to refinsh a US Ford product in Jade Green, so have a little input on the matter.
First off, irrespective of what some claim, Jade Green (a metallic) is not the same as Medium Green. It is however, the same as Dark Ivy Metallic. The codes you should use to get it are the R-M ones, either A-2308, or E-2308. They are both the same.

I agree, it is confusing. It stems from the fact that at the time, the Ford Company generally had three shades of each colour. Dark, medium, and light
When the colour Jade Green is referred to, generally that refers to the darker one, ie Black Jade (A-2308 or E-2308). The confusing thing is that some also refer to your Silver Jade (A-2315 or E-2315) as Jade Green also.
Not to mention the other few colours that I have seen (incorrectly!) referred to as Jade Green, one of which is a non-metallic!

I'm glad Ubendham has posted
I've tried the paint and its deffinately to dark (not the paint on the car "faded"). Luckily I can see what's happening so I did a search for R-M and got their webpage.
On that there's a colour match search and searching for 1969 Mercury Cougar gives several options, one of which is "silver jade metallic". This also gives the make up of the colour using either onyx or diamond so I should be able to get some made up.
I've also discovered that Ford used several suppliers during that period so I might never get an exact match this way!

Thanks for that. I have my uses now and again! I've tried the paint and its deffinately to dark (not the paint on the car "faded"). Luckily I can see what's happening so I did a search for R-M and got their webpage.
