I'm on the fence. It's money I didn't really want to spend, but I'm tempted. I've got a half decent relationship with a local dealer after buying 3 vehicles off them so I'll ask next time I pass, probably tomorrow. They're based in Ohio.
I've (pre)ordered one from Central Florida Chrysler Jeep Dodge, in Orlando FL. They are not certain of the all-up price yet, but based on the spec, they estimate $58,000 + or - $2000, plus delivery, tax, tag and title - that didn't stop them taking a $10k deposit but guarantee that they will not hike the price, as long as I don't attempt to 'sell' my order.
There is no way on this planet that they would sell a car (any car) knowingly for export - their franchise would be revoked immediately.

He works with Tomball dodge and viper exchange and between them they have to be one of the most important dealership networks Chrysler has for their top end cars, Tomball supplied the vipers that ran the n'ring, and have just worked with prefix to put together 10 special order roadster vipers. For Chrysler to pull the plug on them they would be seriously shooting themselves in the foot.
As Neil said, he shipped me my new viper, whilst one FL dealership told me to find someone in my hotel to buy a $100k car for me, another in CA was all talk when i was in the showroom but BJ Motors was the only one to actually complete the sale and the only one to talk to me via email and phone and without me ever setting foot in his showroom or even meeting face to face, so basically if Bernie cant get you one, give up and wait for a used one.
The Charger is not a good looking car IMO. The Challenger, well that does it for me. I watched a dyno pull where the digital speedo stops at 202mph but the RPM runs another 800rpm. 199mph against 204mph in our real world is nothing. I think the Challenger in the right conditions will see over 200mph. Just not on the M1. I'm hoping the order banks will open Monday. Tim the ceo said the order banks will open this month, we'll see. I really could do with something cheering me up big time.
