Lincoln Town Car
Discussion
You have probably seen me posting over the year(s) about my weird need to have a Crown Vic but non have been forthcoming around my budget of £3k to £4k so I have been keeping an eye out for the various Mercury and Lincoln variants.
This has popped up on eBay but is it at a good price. The dealer originally had it at £7995 on his site but as you can see it's now at £5995.

It does seem in good nick according to the pics but how can a car that is 13 years old only have done 38,000 miles.
I know most people think they are a pile of poo but I just fancy an over sized yank with a V8 that is not gonna cost the Earth to keep on the road.
I have driven the P71 Crown Vic on UK roads and I have to say that the suspension felt quite firm but then it was police spec. I'll expect a wallowy ride in this one

£6k for a 2001 yank tank ?? I think £3k is more likely
you cant base the price of a yank solely on its age, different models have different values and condition, history and milage also play a big factorI think the Lincolns have air suspension in the rear dont they? ride may be adjustable.
I know its not the same but i have a tidy 96 Caprice for sale around your budget, civilian spec so not a bashed up clocked starship milage low spec ex police car
Hi i had few of these town cars they are amazing car this has an air suspension so rides on air bags which ride control the 4.6 V8 is known to pass 500k miles and still running it has a very good transmission good on fuel easy to drive parts are very cheap i would not worry about the mileage it may be correct it may not be it dosent matter what the mileage is they just keep going if you need more info you can email me i think price wise you want to be offering around £4500.00 for the car i sold mine last year same year but with LPG for under 5k
Thanks guys, I have finally done it.
Deposit down on a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis with only 50,000km on the clock (Canadian import). Has been in use as a wedding car and is pristine.
Even better it's way up in Morayshire so I'm getting the sleeper train up and then a road trip back down to London
Thanks for bearing with me after all my posts on the Ford/Mercury/Lincoln. Now I finally get a chance to scratch that itch and if it doesn't agree, I can't see me losing much selling it on, especially down here in London Town. I think the chap in Scotland was finding it difficult to sell due to being so remote.
Will cost me £500 in fares and fuel to pick it up so it's a good thing it's big as I'll be sleeping in it

I'm still struggling to get it registered over here, but I put already 3000+ miles in my '01 Interceptor and - apart of minor issues- it feels really solid. The more I drive it the more I love it!
Should you have any questions, the best place to ask it is at crownvic.net.
