In an effort to be grown up and mature, I bought a sensible family car (relatively). Diesel discovery. Its been loads of grief and its DULL. So its time for something new.

So I need something that will do a family of 4 (kids are adult height more of less) and a dog for family hols.

Thinking of something like this:

90s seem the sweet spot of large american excess and new enough to have fuel injection (so I can get double figures mpg) and seatbelts etc.

Not many in the UK - I have a mate in the states, but I can't imagine its worth the shipping costs, so I guess a patient search.

Any thoughts?

I'd love one.

My missus would kill me.

My Mrs is touch difficult to predict.
I never expected her to let me have this as a family car, but when she failed to block me, it was just the encouragement I needed.

Sometimes I wish I'd kept it, but it wasn't an idea family car

Never been a fan of day vans but can easily see why they appeal.

Oh yes - if it is to be done, its to be done proper.

Wood (albeit plastic) is a must. Roof-wrack, white lined tyres and blue vinyl are desirable.

I ran one of those for 3 months last year, 92 Roadie, so big and comfy, all the bells and whistles, go for a 94-96 model as they have a bit more power. Easy to get spares for from Rock Auto. There one in the back of Classic American for £3500, I think Dream Cars have a Chevy version for sale still, has the LT1 motor in it same as the Impala so it's no slouch.

Thanks, I'll look at Classic American

I went down to Dream cars the other night and saw the chevy. Ive been meaning to give them a call, but been busy at work frown

Leaving the bonnet open does help the enthusiasm somehow.

they also have a limo there. I've tried SO hard to convince myself that its the answer, because I love it from the 8 track to "Patina" of every panel being a different shade of silver.
Howver I really can't see how I can go on holiday with the dog and park in cornwal car parks in it frown

Kinda reminds me of the start of the mountain bike movie `Tread` with Hans Rey and Greg Herbold.

Big station wagon with `CANNONDALE` across the doors. Put it this way, you`ll hardly see another if you buy one.

LSx Swapped wagons with a T56 can get double digit miles AND have more power. The swap is pretty straight forward as well. Lots of LSx powered B-bodies out there. You can even have functional A/C!
