Small Jeeps, Patriot and Compass
Discussion
Hi to the Yank motors part of the PH collective. ( This side is new to me )
I have been looking at swapping in the Mini for a 4x4 and looking at up to £5k. The cars which stood out were the Rav4 and Honda CRV.
This was until I spotted a Jeep Patriot, which led onto looking at the Compass. I like the look of the Patriot ( less the Compass ) and there are a couple available in 2l VAG diesel cars at my budget.
I have read reviews and the Patriot comes up quite well, with the Compass not so good.
Anyone offer opinions on anything relating to these cars please?

We have a 2.0 CRD, the interior is very bland and boring but robust. Depends if a cheaper looking plastic puts you off or not. Seats are very comfy, but then they're made for 400lb Yanks so accommodate foreigners a bit better
MPG is very good, we get upwards of 54mpg on a motorway run and the lowest I've seen is 26mpg when we were towing a caravan. VED is just over £200
Parts availability can sort of be an issue if using UK suppliers, but the engine in the diesel is a VW/Audi and most other parts can be bought via Rockauto in the States (the parts usually arrive quicker than if ordered in the UK!)
We bought ours 3 years ago for £10k with 22k miles, issues so far have been a faulty alternator and clutch cylinder.
We're happy with it, as mentioned above the only downside for us is the bland interior!
Think we'll be swapping our Patriot for the Renegade when that comes out though, the wife has fallen in love with it
