Hi All

My first post here, though I've been lurking for a while.

I wonder if there is anyone with experience with these regulators? I thought it might be worth a punt asking on here.

I have a 66 Riviera that has been in pieces for the last 15 years, and we are finally starting to bolt her back together.

we have started putting the wiring back in and are having a few issues with the Delco Regulator. first of all it's smoking from the resistors on the back, this is apparently normal after a long time disused covered in dust. Apparently it should stop after 10 minutes or so? A second opinion on this would be nice before I try it.

Also when turning on the ignition the one of the relay contacts connects immediately and never disconnects. I'm assuming that it should switch on and off to regulate the power? Also with the engine running it seems to be charging at 16v at the moment. could it be related?

If anyone has any ideas, I love to here them.

Thanks

Simon.

Hi all

FYI, I seem to have fixed the regulator.

The smoking was caused by one of the resistors mounts, it was bent in such a way as to cause the hot resistor to touch some plastic.

The constantly on contact seems to be normal and is part of the ignition circuit I think, the reason for the lack of power regulation was because an earth from the voltage regulation coil to the shell of the regulator had burnt out, or broken in some way. after replacing this I was able to adjust the voltage as normal.

Just thought I would post this in case someone else finds this post while having similar problems.

Cheers

Simon.
