I was about to purchase a 2007 Ford F150 until the last minute when I ran it through Autocheck which threw up the following accident history. The vehicle looks good and seems to run fine. However, I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what to look for in terms of a previous repair and know how safe the vehicle now is.

The insurers (Adrian Flux) are happy based on this history and the HPI check is clear. I, however am being cautious.

Is there any way I can find out the true extent of the damage the vehicle suffered and where it was repaired? Failing that, are there any garages which can undertake an inspection of the vehicle and either give me the green light or tell me to stay clear? Obviously I'd be happy to pay for this peace of mind. Or should I just stay clear of this truck?

Can't offer any advice, but bear in mind that if you were to buy it, when it comes to sell it on again you may have some questions to answer. Does the seller have no information?
What is your budget? Pm me if you like, I know of a couple of trucks for sale that are good honest examples.

Yeah, mental! But then again there is the possibility that these may have happened in a yard/work site of some sort... Hence why I would want to find out more information in the event that the damage wasn't serious, I just don't know where to dig for it.

Sounds like a Lemmon!!! NY rust belt two accidents one that ended in a 3 year old truck being sold as salvage
So must have been fairly serious like frame and not just a bit of Sheet metal as before
Get it checked by someone professional , unless it's dirt cheap I would pay out a little more than
your Current budget for one of the many nice ones that are about you will soon forget the price a lot faster than if
You end up with a problem or badly repaird truck
Remember you might want to sell it someday!!!

So it's had two seperate accidents and then been classified as a total loss.

IMHO there is absolutely NO reason to buy this unless it's for miles less money than a nice one. In my experience even when you're looking over a vehicle, even one you're familiar with let alone something you're not, you are going to miss something.

There are nice ones that have been looked after out there.

You've had the sense to do a US car check and just look at what it's brought up:

09/20/2010 : RENSSELAER COUNTY, NY : State Agency : COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE (Case #:33580400)
12/23/2010 : ESSEX COUNTY, NY : State Agency : COLLISION WITH A FIXED OBJECT (TREE) (Case #:33712258)

Really, what is this saying? Buy it? Or not....Plus what a millstone to get rid of in future....

The asking price was £9,500. Which, based on the spec is a very good deal and did make me a tad suspicious (hence the Autocheck). Sounds like it's one to leave, especially thinking of a future re-sale.

Thanks for all of the helpful feedback chaps smile.

Why don't you make him an offer enjoy it for few years then sell it and few years down the line the history may not matter that much and you would have very little depreciation I think

As long as I can enjoy it for a few years without the chassis caving in or a hub flying off because the tree it crashed into was used as an axle...
