I have 2003 grand cherokee crd which keeps going into limp mode ie engine light on & stuck in first gear & have tried to find the fault code using first a mac tools obd reader then an up to date snap on ethos but this only supports european cars for full diagnostics, can any one recommend a code reader for a cherokee ?
Funny both of the above work fine on my 2003 ram but ive tried 2x 2003 grand cherokees with no luck ?

cheers for any info andy

What codes have you got, as chances are by your description what youve got is the battery voltage has dropped low enough whilst cranking to trigger the transmission ecu into going into limp mode p1270 or something like that (its been over a year since i left chrysler) it should be 2nd your stuck in. Fix is normally a new battery or a bloody good charge and theres modified software for the controller which stops this issue but thats a dealer visit.

I have
P0340 camshaft position sensor
P620 generator control circuit
P702 transmission control
P1652 5v ref ???

But has had a flat battery so presume P0340 is tha main problem ?

The 5v reference code will cause the camshaft error but if the batteries gone flat that will cause that to, the p0702 rings a bell your eobd reader won't read the transmission error codes and that's what that code tells you. I still reckon it's a tcm low voltage error.
