The indicators on my new (err to me) camaro flash seriously fast, I suspect the last MOT man must be be 'friendy'.

I'd like to sort it, I'm guessing its due to the light conversion when it came over?

Its the same both sides. When I took out a rear indicator bulb, it made no difference to the speed.

For UK cars the fast flash usually means a bulb has gone - so I assume a low current draw make the flash speed up. Are US cars the same, go I need to add some extra 'draw' on the circuit.

I guess I could try a new flasher unit.

Any pointers gratefully received.

In the days before CAN-BUS electronics in cars the easiest way to do a light conversion on an American car was to put two slave bulbs for the rear indicators somewhere in the boot. This fooled the car into thinking it was still flasjing enough indicator bulbs.

Have a look in the boot, wheel arch wells, spare wheel well and behind the plastic trim below the tailgate to see if it's got a couple of blown slave bulbs.

If it is the '95, just swap out the flasher relay for a UK spec one that handles 4 bulbs, it will be marked along the lines of 21w x 4 + 2 x 5w (the 5w is the side repeaters)

Its a 95. no side repeaters to be seen - again the MOT man must have been friendly.

or just get one of the LED spec flasher units from China. i got one for £1.50 delivered.

it'll do 0.02 watts to 20 watts so you may as well change the bulbs for LED ones anyway. they do orange , red and white. (it's what i'm doing with my Barracuda)

good old ebay link

plus there are others if you want to spend more

just to bring this up to date.
I found the flasher unit under the dash and changed it . it made no difference.. odd.

So I removed the flasher unit completely and that made no difference confused
turns out the easy one to see only does the hazards, the indicator ones is hidden.

so all working well now.
I paid for UK one ebay "Universal Upgrade 2 Pin ELECTRONIC Flasher / Hazard Relay"

In a true American engineering manner - 2 pins only. Why use 3 when 2 will do?
