chevy cuts out

hi all, I have recently bought a 2001 chevy express 8.1L v8 petrol, and recently it has started cutting out at low revs or when I back off the throttle and will re-start after a minute or so sometimes will go a couple of days or just 2 miles then cut out again and I have at least 1/4 tank of fuel
any help would be great thanks

I was not sure if it would bring anything up especially if It mechanical, ie fuel pump or throttle body problems but worth a go thanks
