These things seem to be good value with low miles...

What's the catch?

I'm quite tempted by one as a family bus/runaround

they are a great bit of kit. We have been running at 2003 cherokee 3.7 for 4 years - it has been completely reliable, just needing regular servicing etc. they are a bit juicy. Over the last 2 years and 17k miles ours has averaged 15mpg, but until recently has spent alot of time in city traffic - its currently doing better at 18mpg since we moved out of town a little bit, and will do mid 20's on a steady motorway run.

its pretty comfortable, but not particularly car like, the only real downside is that the boot is not particularly large.

I keep telling the wife we should update it, but she refuses to sell it (although she was tempted by a dodge nitro recently)

Interesting comment re the boot. According to autotrader tech specs, it's over 800 litres with the seats up... One of the reasons I wanted it... I guess I need to take a look at one!

Sawman sums them up well. They are surprisingly small inside.

Great cars. I took a 2.8 CRD off roaring in the South of France for a week back in 2005. Immensely capable cars.

The boot is not very deep, but pretty tall, so you need to stack things up - if you do a decent supermarket run, you have to be careful how you stack things to avoid squashing your sliced bread etc. The forester we had for a while had a better boot.

However, when I put my back out, it was helpful, as you dont need to reach in very far, and its quite high of the ground
