Hello everyone,

I am new here, a friend referred me. I have a fully built 1999 Pontiac Trans AM that I may be looking to sell here in the UK. I am active duty American military stationed here in the UK. I was wondering if you guys could help me get a realistic asking price for this car. This car has been my baby since 2004. The motor was built @7500 miles ago and the transmission built @5000 miles ago. The car has never been wrecked, curbed, or even has a slight fender bender. This thing is a true monster! I can't get the photo uploader to work so I'll try to get some pics posted somewhere and post the link.

Chevy 350 LS1 motor
.030 overbore
Mahle teflon sleeved pistons, double eyebrow flat tops
Comp cam
ADV DUR: 288 int & exh,
DUR @ .050 236 int & exh
Lobe sep: 112.0
Valve lift: .590 int & exh
AFR Stage III heads 225cc (upgraded valve train)
SLP ported oil pump
SLP billet double row timing chain
F.A.S.T. LSX fuel rails
LS1 fuel conversion lines
Accel 30 lb/hr fuel injectors
BMR upper pan hard bar
BMR heavy duty torque arm
MSD ignition
MSD blaster coil packs
MSD super conducter spark plug wires
ARP bolts (entire engine from rebuild)
LS6 corvette intake manifold
Iridium core spark plugs (indexed to manifold)
Carbon fiber cold air intake
TNT Nitrous system 100 shot
MSD Window switch (3000-6200)
MSD WOT micro switch
Nitrous Works purge kit (purges out air intakes in front of hood)
Nitrous bottle warmer
Heavy duty Aluminium drive shaft
Moser 12 bolt rear end
4:10 gears
Dynatech longtube headers (coated with skid plate)
Custom 3'-4'-3' Y pipe
Flowmaster exhaust
700R4 built transmission
3000 stall converter
Eibach lowering kit
Corvette C5 wheels 17's front 18's back
Pillar gauges
Cobalt air/fuel ratio
Cobalt fuel psi
Aggressor hood (Firehawk style air intakes with 4 port heat extractors)
Newly airbrushed fire pheonix
Taylor engine wire covers (red)

The car is black with tan interior and leather seats.

Any kind of ball park estimate would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for an asking price assuming the buyer pays all import fees and VAT. It will have a fresh UK MOT by the end of the month, once I get it back from paint.

Thanks,
Larry

Not wishing to piss on your chips, but three things.

1. A WS6 is not a very well known car over here so lacks desirability.
2. The money you've spent on modifying it will have virtually no effect on its value.
3. Anyone buying one here won't want to be bothered with paying your duties and import VAT when they could get one without the aggro.

Sorry.

Plenty who know what they are looking for know about the WS6. Similar to the SS Camaro in effect.
But you are right, the mods wont be recooped.

Duty and VAT will put some people off you are right. Id say you would perhaps get £8k for it with UK Tax and Vat paid.
So without them perhaps £5-6K IMO.

I have something similar, though my mods are a bit more budget due to the issue you have. Its and old car and showing its age.
What you have sounds very good and nice, but as mentioned UK MOT, registered and Taxed I doubt you would get more than at most £10k

Also I think OP means you have a rebuilt 4l60e, not 700r4 biggrin

I've always desired a WS6, great looking car. I bought a Mustang in 2003 as I couldn't afford the WS6 at the time, they were going for £20-25k at the time.

I have been researching them again recently (there's not many about), all soft tops in fairly standard trim, ranging from £13-£15k. (I wouldn't have paid that much for them mind.)

I'd hesitate to estimate a guide price without seeing the photo's, and to understand if those mods have actually achieved very much (have you taken it down the strip?).

All these pictures were taken before the car went for paint. The first pic is of the newly airbrushed hood in the final stages. Thanks for all the input guys.

also try the pontiac owners club across here (http://www.poc-uk.org/) who may be able to help... got to be honest though, you're likely going to be better off selling back in the US (IIRC you get free shipping back to the US?)

Well I guess I'll be keeping it then. I love this car but I was thinking that selling it in the UK would be the only way to get anything close to what I have in it back. Thanks for the info everyone.

Yep the lesson after modding about 5 cars is you get nothing back.
So keep the mods mild and subtle.

.. thats easier said than done though..

I've always wanted one of these. I almost bought a mint on for £9,000 when I first got here. These aren't worth £12-15. You are getting into C5 Vette money there. Nice car though. What did you want for it? I think you would have to remove the nitrous as I don't think that is legal in the UK. I might be wrong though.
