Hi,
I have found a very good condition 2003 with 89,000 miles and 6 months mot.

The car will be used no more than 2 or 3000 miles a year with lay up time of 2 months or so at a time ( holiday home car)

Any pointers of things I should look out for, or make sure of or maintenance hints would be appreciated.

Also any common faults.?

Thanks

I think they tend to be thirsty and most people think official Chrysler servicing and parts are expensive. There is one down the road from me, a 2002 and it seems to always be working and reliable, day in, day out.

I'd probably buy a Mazda 5 though.

Well funnily enough we have a 2001 3.3 with 80,000 miles on it that will be up for sale shortly, yes they are thirsty about 13-14 mpg around town and max 20 on a run but more like 18 on a run in general, great to drive, comfy and fast fur a big wagon, we have the grand which is the long one, it appears that gearboxes can be a weak link, ours had a new box before we bought it so no issues here, we have electric doors and tailgate which can be temperamental but all in all for £2500 which is what I would hope to get for it I think they are amazing value, true comfort and a pleasure to drive, we take ours up north twice a year and it just eats up the miles. Parts can be a little dear but you have no depreciation in my mind so that out weighs it for me, to check rear brake pipes as these rust out, not expensive and easy to do but do check them.

Thanks for the replies.
Well I bought the ebay 2003 3.3 with 89k at a winning bid of £1470

It's immaculate inside and out. Drives very smooth and very quiet.

The only issue is ABS warning light is on.....any pointers?

I will also need a service.....transmission fluid?

I had one as a hire car in the USA.

It was like a very gender specific marmite.

All the women loved it, and all the blokes were embarrassed that the USA had sunk so low.

Hi,3.3 is avery reliable engine, one of the best,we never have them in for repairs at all, just service etc
There are not that bad on fuel, the 2.8 isnt much better,in fact probabaly worse.
Abs light probably a sensor, and transmission service isnt the end of the world.
You will be fine alround good car.

ABS light being on could be a sensor. If you have a multimeter there are quite easy to check.

Ahh thanks will look at sensors first.

What's the best way to get a spare key as it only has one? Main dealer? Expensive?

Had the same fault on our diesel version. Traction control light on as well? It was a front ABS sensor on ours, replaced and all is good.
Air con compressors can be a weak point, pulley seizes and the car grinds to a halt.

Had to replace alternator as well, if battery loses voltage engine and gearbox ECU drop out and, voila no drive. That was interesting in Lane 3!

Make sure whoever services it changes the plugs on the rear bank.

They're not easy to change and it's not unheard of for people to be charged for it but they haven't been done.

The thought of a great car for the money is tainted as Chrysler main dealer has quoted £500 plus for a transmission solenoid that has failed and put it into limp mode.....

Look the part up on rockauto.co.UK

You can search by age and model or VIN.

It'll come from the US, they're a US based company.

Stuff from them normally arrives within three days.
