Jeep 2.5L petrol decat..... Overfuel???

Hi guys wonder if any one can help
Bought an old jeep 1997 2.5l petrol, someone previous owner has cut the cat out and put a straight through pipe on it, it smells really bad of unburnt fuel and drinks heavy consider the size of the engine....
I have read on other cars that a fuel map resistor has to be changed to reduce the amount of fuel sent... Is it the same on my jeep and what should it be and where would I find it?????

Would suggest you check the oxy sensor first - make sure it's cycling up and down. If not, that's a problem.
